A buffer tank plays an integral role in a hydronic heating system. It acts as a "battery" for the hydronic system, storing glycol/water heated by the heat pump. This allows the heated or cooled fluid to circulate through the home without the need for the heat pump to constantly start and stop (short cycling), reducing wear and tear on the compressor. The buffer tank also allows the heating fluid to be isolated from the potable hot water used in the home when using a heat exchanger.
These new composite hydronic tanks are made of a polypropylene core wrapped in fiberglass and high heat resin with high R value closed cell foam. Weighing roughly half the weight of a steel tank and will not rust! Features 4 stainless steel ports, thermo well, drain, vent and vacuum breaker. Available in sizes between 22Gallons up to 55 Gallons.
The AltSource is the ideal choice for a heat pump buffer tank as it comes available with a digital hydronic controller and automatic backup heating elements up to 29KW to continue to heat your home should the outside temperature drop below -30 degrees Celsius. Features 4 ports, temp and pressure indicator, drain valve, relief valve, and air vent. Available in 50 and 70 Gallon sizes. Can be ordered with optional copper domestic hot water coil.
Optional On Demand Domestic Water Heater
The optional copper hot water coil allows you to heat the hot water for your home for just a 1/4 of the price compared to a traditional electric hot water tank. The 160' coil allows for almost instantaneous hot water or can be used as a water preheater for an instant hot water system for high demand applications.
Features 4 high capacity ports, 2 inch foam insulation, temp and pressure indicator, air vent and thermo well. Available in sizes from 30 to 200 Gallons.
